Company History

Buckley Industries started in 1888 as a sheet metal and slate tile roofing company.  Its original name was American Cornice Works.  In the 1930's it added flat roofing to its other services.  The company continued to grow and in 1958, it started Buckley Incorporated, which was in the contracting business.  In 1960, it began selling and using fiberglass insulation to complement its roofing line, and Buckley Industries was formed as an insulation supplier.   The company continued to grow until 1972 when the brothers Bill and Duane split the companies.  Bill Buckley formed Buckley Roofing and took the roofing and sheet metal business.  Duane Buckley took the insulation (Buckley Industries) and mechanical contracting (Buckley Incorporated).  In 1986, Buckley Industries purchased Polyplastics in Austin, Texas.  Polyplastics is in the foam packaging business and continues to grow, adding to the company's profitability.  Buckley Incorporated was closed in 1987.  Buckley Industries continued to grow, expanding its customer base of polyurethane foam, closed cell foam, and aircraft insulation.  In 1990, a 10,000 square foot addition was added.  In 1993, another 7500 square feet were added.  In 1995, a 25,000 square foot building was leased.  In 2000, the company moved from three locations into one at 1850 East 53rd Street North.  The company currently resides in  a 126,000 SF  facility on 20 acres of land.  Its main product line consists of insulation for original equipment manufacturers, polyurethane foam, closed cell sponge rubber, and dampening for noise control.
